Dear visitor, in this exhibition of the Dutch Design Hotel Artemis you can see two artworks of Studio Santing, Sample3 (lobby) en Sample4 (restaurant). These works are part of the Block serie. Slides of transparant colored silk react with each other and with the light, together they make a architectonic composition. What you see depends on the weather, the moment of the day, the position of the slats and your own position towards the slats. You can pull the shortest cord on the left side of the artwork to change the composition. Walk along to see movement and moments.
In deze expositie van het Dutch Design Hotel Artemis ziet u twee lichtwerken uit de Block serie, Sample3 (lobby) en Sample4 (restaurant). Lamellen van transparant geverfde kunstzijde reargeren met het licht en maken samen een architectonische compositie. Wat u ziet hangt af van het weer, het moment van de dag, de stand van de lamellen en de hoek vanuit waar u kijkt. Trek aan het kortste koord links van het kunstwerk om de compositie te veranderen. Loop langs om mooie momenten in het schuiven te zien.

I am a painter who paints in a spatial way. I give every film a separate wearer and leave a blank space between them. So that colors can be mixed live. I would like to draw the viewer into the moment by creating something that’s constant and slowly changing.
Ik ben een schilder die ruimtelijk werkt. In de Block serie geef ik elke film een aparte drager en laat er ruimte en licht tussen. Hierdoor kan het werk (tot op zekere hoogte) zichzelf live schilderen. Graag wil ik de kijker in het moment trekken door iets te maken wat continue aan het veranderen is.

Unica’s — Naast vrije werken zoals Sample3 en 4 creëert Studio Santing ook unica’s die speciaal vervaardigd zijn voor een ruimte. Het concept van de Block serie kan vertaald worden naar uw persoonlijke woon- of werkruimte in de vorm van een verticale jaloezie of roomdivider. We kijken samen naar uw ruimte en ik kom met een vrijblijvend voorstel.
Site-specific — Besides artworks like Sample3 and 4, creates Studio Santing also works that are especially designed for a location. The concept of the Block serie can be translated into your living or workspace in vertical slats in front of a window or as a roomdivider. Together we can take a look at your personal space and wishes and I will present you a suggestion.
Lamellen zijn kantelbaar en indien u kiest voor een fabrieksarmatuur, ook inschuifbaar. De kunstzijde is gekleurd met acrylics (verf, mediums, toevoegingen) van het professionele merk Golden (uitsluitend lichtechte pigmenten en UV-resistent). Daarnaast is het beschermd met een vernis (Golden) die een nog extra UV-filter toevoegt.
Slats are convertible and in case you thoose a fitting made by a factory, the slats can also be moved close together. The artificial silk is painted with acrylics from the professional brand Golden (lightfast, UV-resistent) and finished with a varnish that contains a UV-filter.
