Festoons, 2015.

Materials: Various types of pastel paper and kozo, sketching paper, newspapers, magazines, wrapping paper, faxpaper and different types of foil. Acid free glue, suspension: steel and polyester.
Size: diameter 1 festoon: 100 - 120 cm, h: 250 cm.
Place: during the exibition 'Papier in de hoofdrol', in the Museum of Gorcum, the Netherlands (2015).

All daily things have a poetic quality. Thats why I've chosen to use besides the types of paper I always like to work with (like pastel paper and kozo), to use types wich have a function in our daily live.

By choosing a simple method of cutting and glueing there's room left for more, suchs as a composition. The composition is based on a stream: out of the wooden floor it goes up through the paper that has been made of wood pulp and fibers of plants. A tribute to the trees, with its beautiful bark, who connects earth with heaven by enabling the lifeblood to rise.
